At the metal construction company Riguzzi in Felben (Switzerland), it was easy and simple to network and digitize internal processes. The modular Tru Tops Fab software in conjunction with Trumpf machines has contributed significantly to this.

The metalworker Riguzzi in Felben in Thurgau benefits from the continued good economic situation and is growing steadily. That's why the owner, Andreas Riguzzi, recently invested in an additional production hall. In future, assemblies will be assembled there.
In addition, the metal manufacturer procured several other machines for sheet metal processing from the manufacturer Trumpf. However, there was a lack of internal organization for production data. The self-programmed software, based on a generally available database (Access), was overwhelmed by the increasing number of accesses. Andreas Riguzzi considered two ways to improve in-house data management. For one thing, he was able to invest in a complex and cost-intensive ERP system. Alternatively, he intended to digitize his entire production directly throughout.
In close cooperation with the technical advisor of Trumpf Schweiz AG, Patrick Kühne, the metal construction company found the software Tru Tops Fab, which was optimally matched to his requirements. He installed it together with the investment in a press brake and a laser machine. It is modular. Thus, the user can install the modules required in his specific situation for his current needs. In this way he can digitize individually. That succeeded also with Riguzzi. Patrick Kühne explains: "As a technical consultant, I am in constant contact with our customers. So I know the respective interests and can assess the operational environment. This results in the ideas and the optimal solutions for the respective needs. At Riguzzi, this is our modular software Tru Tops Fab. With it, all internal processes in sheet metal processing can be digitized throughout. "
As a special advantage, the software creates comprehensive transparency in sheet metal production. All machines can be networked digitally. The software always shows the current state of production. In this way, it becomes visible for each component at which processing and intermediate steps it is located.
Have selected the right software modules from the Tru Tops Fab system individually: Andreas Riguzzi (r.), Owner of the metalworking company of the same name, and Patrick Kühne, customer service representative at Trumpf Schweiz AG.

In addition, the Tru Tops Fab software processes all order data, starting with the receipt of a production order until it is ready for delivery. It increases process reliability. For example, it automatically checks when entering data and parameters whether they are plausible.
Andreas Riguzzi initially invested in the software modules Quick job, Production and Calculate for order processing, production monitoring and costing. As he reports after only a few months of experience, this is recommended. "If several modules are installed, once entered data will be used multiple times. This significantly reduces the effort involved in data management and data maintenance. "
After only a few months, Riguzzi expanded its digitization. He also installed the software modules to manage the warehouse, to buy and to monitor the entire production. The latter includes screens showing all production orders according to their priority. In this way, every machine operator receives the data for jobs currently being processed at his workstation.
As Andreas Riguzzi confirms, the digitization of in-house processes offers significant economic benefits.
"We were able to reduce organizational time and effort and costs by up to 50 percent," he says. He also considers the acceptable investment costs to be particularly advantageous. "Even for a medium-sized company these are to be afforded. If one puts the realizable advantage into account in current production, the investment cost is always justified, "he adds.
For more than two years now, digitization with Trumpf's modular software has proven to be a great success at the metal construction company Riguzzi. The machine operators and programmers are also completely satisfied with the software. They have coped easily with the change from the formerly usual order and data sheets and accompanying cards in production. For example, they now work with mobile communication devices (smartphones, ipads) instead of the formerly usual papers. In workshops they had learned to enter data related to the software on these digital communication devices, to select and read order data. As Patrick Kühne reports, Trumpf supports users very intensively in this learning phase with individually tailored seminars, trainings and workshops.
Andreas Riguzzi recently invested in other Trumpf machines. This concerns a high-speed bending machine Tru Bend 7036 with 360 kN pressing force, a Tru Bend 7050 with 500 kN pressing force and 1530 mm bending length. As he confirms, investing in machines means less of a choice of machine speeds than of digital networking. These include the functions and equipment of the controls and the software. He is convinced that he will find the right systems for the manufacturer and his requirements. He also rates this manufacturer as the best partner especially for medium-sized companies. This applies in particular to consulting, training and installation of systems in connection with Industry 4.0, ie the digitization of production.
